Minimise the Risk of Cryogenic Media Spills

Drive-away incidents on cryogenic applications can have serious implications on the health of your equipment and your operating personnel. Not only is there a risk of cold burns, but there are also other serious risks such as fire damage, potential explosions due to the the uncontrolled release of oxygen, and possible asphyxiation of personnel as a result of depleting oxygen levels n the boarding area produced by the release of gases such as nitrogen.


Cryogenic breakaway couplings enable the safe transfer of cryogenic liquids and gases, whilst helping to reduce the risks associated with drive-away incidents. Should the tanker pull away, the flexible loading hose comes into tension, transmitting the load to the breakaway coupling which causes the pre-determined break bolts to snap, allowing the coupling halves to separate and immediately seal, preventing major product spillage. 

Rigorously Tested

All cryogenic breakaway couplings that we supply from Alpha Process Controls are rigorously pressure-tested with nitrogen gas prior to tagging, packaging and despatch. 

Thanks to on-site oxygen cleaning facilities at our suppliers premises, all couplings are supplied in the ultra-clean condition that is required for use in cryogenic loading & unloading applications.
